About Us

About The Organisation

Founded in 2016, Foundation for Green Future Australia is a small Australian community of restoration professionals that includes researchers, practitioners and decision-makers from Australia. FOGA members are actively involved in the repair and restoration of ecologically sensitive and degraded ecosystems. We utilise a broad array of experiences, knowledge sets, and cultural perspectives. Drawing from this diverse expertise, FOGA works at a regional and national level. We partner with the local city councils, government agencies, semi-government organisations and the private sector to engage ourselves in their restoration efforts for the benefit of complex ecosystems and the community as a whole.

Our Progress

Weed Management

Over the past 4 years, we estimate to have cleared noxious weeds and invasive plant species and restore more then 20-hectare pristine bushland area. These weeds posed a major threat to the biodiversity of ecologically endangered plant communities such as the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub. Through removing harmful weed species, we have reduced the risk of native species being displaced and have increased the chances of survival and expansion for these plant communities. Cleared areas have also been provided an opportunity to regenerate and recover with the help of proper bush regeneration practices that ultimately create habitats for native fauna.

Revegetation of Native Plants

Our work in the past 24 months has allowed us to revegetate 6 different sites with over 15000 propagated native plants. These plants are part of ecologically endangered plant communities such as the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub and fresh water wetlands which form a rich and diverse ecosystem. Our work has been carried out through the tireless efforts and dedication of over 50 volunteers that have devoted their time to revegetate the sites that had been prepared through our previous weed clearing work.
