Planting Day at Botany Wetlands

Following on from the previous planting day, a new area of damaged native bushland in Botany Wetlands was allocated to the foundation to revegetate and restore. Due to the short notice of the work, only 3 volunteers were able to make it to the site but with their skill and consistency, over 800 new plants were planted. Due to the extensive rain in Sydney, the soil was extremely saturated and required specific attention before the planting work could begin. The 400 square metres of land was mulched weeks prior to the volunteering day which helped to alleviate some of the potential issues if this work had not occurred.

As always, the work day was extremely productive, social and rewarding. Volunteers were provided with a nutritious and tasty morning tea followed by a group debrief over some drinks after the work was completed. We are extremely thankful for our volunteers dedication regardless of the late notification and we look forward to seeing more people over the following volunteering days.
