Weed Clearing at Kamay Botany Bay National Park

FOGA has been involved in weed clearing work within Kamay Botany Bay National Park. Through our volunteer work, a large area of ESBS been saved. The work was primarily focused on controlling woody weeds such as Chrysanthemoides monilifera ssp. Rotundata (Bitou Bush) and Lantana camara, followed by clearing patches of invasive Herbaceous weeds like Asparagus aethiopicus and Conyza bonariensis.

Our volunteers were a group of recently graduated high-school students from Sydney Boys High School who spent a day learning about various regeneration practices. These training activities allowed volunteers to get a better understanding about weed control and have helped to learn different methods of restoration work.
